qmail-ldaplookup fails. Any ideas why?

here is the command I am running:

/var/qmail/bin/qmail-ldaplookup -u userlogin

 

Here is the output:

qldap_open:     NOT successful: binding to ldap server failed

 

I am wondering what I can check in /var/qmail/controls/ to see what the problem could be.

Any ideas?
