I use 20010802 stable since installed, and I had this problem. The problem was caused due to a bad coding in the webmail client.
It seamed IMAP folders influenced, but had no time to undergo a major seek of the problem. My workaround was deleting the maildirsize on webmail logout, and on trash flushing.
