This is correct. OpenLDAP 1.x has security holes and according to Kurt Zeilenga (the author) it's use is deprecated and merely for historical reference. In other words, people should not be using it anymore. It should not be supported any further. > I just remembered that the old ldap_set_option() was added by Andre > because of Netscape LDAP SDK, so I was not sure if it was neccesairy in > Netscapes LDAP SDK to force LDAPv2 or the connection would be something > else that does not work. OpenLDAP has finally caught up and also uses ldap_set_opion() now. It finally does what Netscape LDAP SDK has done for years, speaks LDAPv3. > My problem is that the LDAP_VERSION_ERROR is hidden by the next failing > attempt. So you never get / see this error in qmail-ldap. This should be handled somehow, then. Like I said, I'm not a professional C coder :-) I have attempted to explain this the best I can, but I think you still do not understand it. Maybe someone else here can help me out. I can't speak French or technical German :-( -- Mike
