changing partition for qmail ldap

Hi,

Can anybody safely guide me on how to change the default partition of qmail from /var/qmail to something like
/usr/qmail. I had someone install qmail-ldap on our server and the numb nut partitioned the /var directory with a small
disk partition. Would resizing the partition work also? I'm using ext3. If I can safely move the whole path to /usr please
let me know. Thanks.
