It looks like my problem was user error. I was *sure* that I had uncommented both of these lines in my Makefile, but apparently not. I recompiled with a clean version of the qmail source and patch and now all is well.

Thanks,
Brian!

Hello,

I noticed that the latest version Qmail-LDAP will no longer create a home directory for a new user upon receipt of the first message. It requires a home directory to already be in place. It will automatically create a Maildir, if configured to do so, in the home directory if the Maildir does not exist. But it will not create the home directory.

Why was this changed? Is this a bug or a feature? :-)

It worked for me, and I just installed it for the first time. Do you have these two entries in your Makefile uncommented: MDIRMAKE=-DAUTOMAILDIRMAKE HDIRMAKE=-DAUTOHOMEDIRMAKE
