imap-ssl & pop-ssl cluster session forwarding

I have just a couple of questions, nothing critical.  I have qmail-ldap 
set up in clustering.  imap & pop session forwarding works like a charm, 
very impressed!  However I'm attempting to use SSL (with patched 
tcpserver) and notice on the backend, it attempts to establish a non-ssl 
session to standard 110 and 143 ports.  This is ultimately failing 
because where the session is being forwarded too doesn't recognize, SSL 
traffic.

Are there any alternatives, tricks or workarounds I could try?  Maybe I 
could be missing something?
