I think you're wrong. I have courier-imap 3.0.8 running perfectly with
qmail-ldap:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/lib/courier-imap/bin> ./imapd --version
Courier-IMAP 3.0.8/i386-redhat-linux-gnu/Tue Jan 4 18:31:29 CET 2005
Version 4.0.x is other question ;) , but all 3.0.x I have tested works
perfectly.

Some where I read that courier-imap is the recommended imap-server ,
so at least update the official docs , I just lost all morning to
discover that courier-imap 3.08 doesn't work either.
