AFAIK, courier-imap do not have a cluster configuration.
Besides, it needs direct access to all the user mail
files and filesystem tree, so you must have one courier
for each machine, and it will serve only the users that
are configured to use that machine as mail repository.
You see, qmail-ldap write files into the ~user/Maildir/
directory, courier-imap just read, delete and manages
that diretory tree.
I do not use qmail-ldap in clusters, and I do not use
courier-imap in that way, too. But, for what you want,
may be it is a good idea to have a number of servers
in cluster with qmail-ldap and a number of servers
with courier-imapd. All of them should mount the users
mail directories from a NFS file server.
