Open-Xchange [1] implements most of the features provided by Exchange and it stores it's users in LDAP too. The default implementation uses postfix, but it shouldn't be a problem to use qmail-ldap as a mail backend instead (just needs SMTP, IMAP and an additional object class in LDAP). The server is GPL, but the Outlook connector is commercial, around 15$ per seat. Drawbacks we've experienced so far is, that there is no official Exchange migration path which can be really painful and needs some serious hacking to get it working the way it should - but besides this it's really useful.
