Do not use webbugs in your emails, that's evil :) Instead, use the one tool you have to see what is happening in your mail server: your logs. I would recommends using an automated package such as qmailanalog to parse your logs. I've not used it on qmail-ldap logs, but I would imagine it would work fairly well. You can also read through the logs and write something quick and easy with perl to give you the stats you want.
