Exact, ../control/boot/<SERVICE>.
You can use qmail-pop3d-ssl (ln -s > service) to enabled pop3 ssl service,
remenber to add an pem certificat.
See qmail-pop3d-ssl/run for more details.

Yes, be aware  about pem certificat for ssl services .

I hope without mistake, pop3d push "current" et "new" folder mails in your
maildir, imapd too.
