Thats about 1800 viruses a day... That is 2x more than I process between 3 MTA's. Total Email: last 24 Hours 159,213 msgs 6,642.1 MB 100.00% Total Spam: last 24 Hours 39,186 msgs 416.5 MB 24.61% Total Virus: last 24 Hours 966 msgs 86.1 MB 0.61% I drop about 60,000 SMTP Connections a day from RBL and SMTP rules (bad mail from and bad recipient to's)... that really lightens the load. Probably what I should have asked is how many SMTP connections does the box take each/day. I would recommend trying these.. in this order. 1) run RBL services to reduce smtp traffic 2) use PPerl to save a little bit of perl overhead 3) write your own C port of qmail-scanner 4) use multiple MTA's and round robin your DNS if all else fails. actually, #4 might be #1 if you want to invest some money..
