I've created a spam gateway using
Qmail-1.03 Qmail-scanner-1.20st SpamAssassin 2.60 ClamAV
And I currently receive notifications for:
Disallowed breakage found in header name - potential virus Disallowed MIME comment found in header name - potential virus
The problem is that we receive a lot of these from Spammers who send from invalid email addresses. So on top of the notification, I also receive a double-bounce.
Any suggestions on how to stop the notifications ... or should I just turf the doublebounces and put up with the notifications?
Maybe you could look at curbing stuff that would result in double-bounces in the first place. For example, I've curbed a lot of my double-bounces by using some of qmail-ldap's builtin utilities. It has patches enabling verification of recipient address, return MX check, and sender email address sanity check. Anything that doesn't meet these I return a 55x to in the SMTP conversation.
Maybe you'll find something for your setup. If it's not qmail-scanner's notifications triggering them, it'll be something else. Just a thought.
