Too much effort! What's wrong with a cronjob that runs at 4am and does

mv -f qmail-queue.log qmail-queue.log.1

That's it. I do that on all my Q-S servers so I have two days worth of
logs.

Err - then you're not running "normal" Q-S. Q-S totally controls how it
writes to qmail-queue.log - restarting qmail would have absolutely no
affect on that...
