Qmail stops working

Qmail seems to continue to run (i.e. qmail-smtpd and qmail-send are both running)
but all connections to port 25 are timing out.  The server is not busy, and there
is no firewall between the client and the server.

I Kill qmail send and all tcpserver processes and restart by hand... then no
problems...
There are no messages in any syslogs, and all other processes function correctly

Does anyone want to take a stab at it???
