pop3 How To

Hi,   Is there anyone who can clearly specify how to start pop3 and smtp services ?   Does anyone have a clear document. I dont seem to find the following files under   /etc/rc.d/init.d/qmail.init start /etc/rc.d/init.d/qmail-smtpd.init start /etc/rc.d/init.d/qmail-pop3d.init start so what should be installed. I have already installed ucspi-tcp-0.84 but what else   please
