"man qmail-control" will list all the files that you may need to
configure qmail - they live in /var/qmail/control on my machine.
One of them, "queuelifetime" is set to 604800 seconds, by default. You
could make that lower. However, unlike other MTAs, qmail doesn't send the
person who has sent a "This mail is being queued" message if there is a
problem. The "queuelifetime" is how long it will sit on a letter, before
returning it back as "undeliverable".
