That would indicate that you are having a problem with the network
interface. (Solaris calls this hme0; there's a story that the Sun
engineers actually call the 100Mb interfaces "happy meal", but I won't
vouch for the veracity...).

I've seen problems with Netras when I've neglected to install the
proper patches to Solaris, but since I've never used Linux on anything
other than a PC, I wouldn't know whether the problem is common there.
In any case it's certainly not a qmail-related problem. You might get
better answers in a Linux-related newsgroup or mailinglist.
