error qmail

Hi...

When i compiled qmail in FreeBSD 4.2 ,i got some message "multilog:
fatal: unable to lock directory /var/log/qmail: temporary failure"

what is that mean? and how i can resolve that.

BTW where i can find URL/e-books for install qmail in FreeBSD.
