I assume you mean you got joe-jobbed and your queue filled up with
bounces. This has happened to us as well, but to the tune of a million
messages or so, not 30,000 :).

You could have a separate machine handling bounces -- i.e. mail is
received by one machine, but sent by another. Outgoing mail would then
be unaffected by such a bounce storm.
