can't authenticate via qmailadmin using vpopmail with -d to move directory

Greetings..

I running the following:

        qmailadmin-0.45
        vpopmail-4.9.10 (NOT using mysql support)

When I use the following:

        /var/vpopmail/bin/vadddomain -d /home/u/s/user -u user domain.com password

I can not login to the qmailadmin interface for that domain.  Says "Invalid
Login"

with

        /var/vpopmail/bin/vadddomain domain.com password

all goes as it should.

Is there a setting in qmailadmin that I am missing?  or perhaps in vpopmail?
or perhaps this is not supported in qmailadmin at this time?
