Did you make a maildir for the user [EMAIL PROTECTED]? Is it an /etc/passwd user? Or is it a virtual user? If it's an /etc/passwd user, then as root do /var/qmail/bin/makemaildir ~/Maildir and then make a .qmail-root file in ~ with the contents ./Maildir/ Tren. -----Original Message----- From: burrett [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, September 20, 2001 11:13 AM To: Qmailadmin Users Subject: Setting up remotely & can't change to directory Hi All, I realise that this may be covered in archives (except I don't know the URL) but I would appreciate some help please. I am setting up qmail, vpopmail and qmailadmin on a remote system, where I have logged in as a normal user and su to root when required. Everything seems to have installed OK except that when I try to access via qmailadmin and log in, that part works. But when I try to setup pop users (or any other function) I get the following error: Error: could not change directory Looking in the mail log qmail is reporting the same problem as follows: Sep 20 22:54:08 ns1 qmail: 1000990448.949908 delivery 6: deferral: Unable_to_chdir_to_maildir._(#4.2.1)/ Sep 20 22:54:08 ns1 qmail: 1000990448.950069 status: local 0/10 remote 0/20 Sep 21 00:17:00 ns1 qmail: 1000995420.945962 starting delivery 7: msg 2240298 to local [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sep 21 00:17:00 ns1 qmail: 1000995420.946091 status: local 1/10 remote 0/20 Sep 21 00:17:00 ns1 qmail: 1000995420.949891 delivery 7: deferral: Unable_to_chdir_to_maildir._(#4.2.1)/ Sep 21 00:17:00 ns1 qmail: 1000995420.950053 status: local 0/10 remote 0/20 Sep 21 00:22:28 ns1 qmail: 1000995748.945960 starting delivery 8: msg 2240299 to local [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sep 21 00:22:28 ns1 qmail: 1000995748.946086 status: local 1/10 remote 0/20 Sep 21 00:22:28 ns1 qmail: 1000995748.949930 delivery 8: deferral: Unable_to_chdir_to_maildir._(#4.2.1)/ Sep 21 00:22:28 ns1 qmail: 1000995748.950086 status: local 0/10 remote 0/20 Hope someone can suggest a solution and thanks in advance for any help or an archive URL I have checked permissions against one of my own systems which is working and they seem to be ok however working remotely I am not sure Regards Roger
