Is bouncesaying such a good idea these days? Was it ever? In a few
limited cases (this domain has been suspended because they refuse to pay
their bills) is a good example of its use, but one you'd not want the
domain admin to have control over.
A few examples:
Domain with catchall, spammer uses a bogus address in your domain for the From header. Add a catchall saying 'bogus address' (granted, you could just let the mail drop).
An old mailbox is overcome by spam and you decide to give up on it. Bouncesaying "this address has been retired, if you wish to contact me, please email me at newaddress at domain.com".
An employee leaves the company. bouncesaying "John Doe is no longer with Company, Inc. For personal matters, please email [EMAIL PROTECTED] For business matters, please contact his replacement, [EMAIL PROTECTED]".
I gave up on doublebounce on my server long ago, I was tired of seeing spam bounces to nonexistent addresses. As far as I'm concerned, if an email doublebounces, it deserves to disappear.
