FYI, I needed to also find the PID for 'supervise send' (ps -wuax | grep supervise) and stop that in addition to running qmailctl stop so that I wouldn't get "supervise: fatal: unable to acquire send/supervise/lock: temporary failure" errors when running qmailctl start after upgrading clamav.
