Like Jim, I'd like to get some clearance on this matter: what is safe to do with
vqadmin and what is not? And how can one establish the same things from
command line?

Qmailadmin works just fine for creating/modifying accounts. Vqadmin
does not apparently (though I've never had any issues with it, but all
I use it for is to initially create the new domain without any
accounts).
