I had a similar problem when I updated my x86_64 Centos 5.0 server to 5.1. If I remember correctly I increased the /var/qmail/supervise/smtp/run softlimit to 100000000 Good Luck, James

In answer to an earlier email, I did reboot the server. The updates appliead were about 400+ and look to be update 1 from CentOS. I usually snapshot before an update, but forgot this time. I will be going back to a bare metal backup image of the server.
