Hi Ben.
I'm running CentOS 5.4 64 bit as well and did notice same issue as You after
upgrading Clamd.
1'st day after the upgrade logwatch was okay but the next day I got same
saying in my logwatch file.
I have removed 1'st line in the freshclam.log file (vim
/var/log/clamav/freshclam.log) and since then I'm getting proper information
in my logwatch.
Now I'm waiting for the logrotate to happen to check if this appears again.
Hope this helps (I actually also have made one change in the freshclam.conf
file (/etc/freshclam.conf) and that was to disable logtime from yes to NO.
Regards,
Finn

Subject: [qmailtoaster] Log watch and clamd.
About a week ago I built a new CentOS 5.4 64 bit QMT to replace my old
Dell which bought the farm.
Neither clamd nor spamd were working. A couple of days later I found
tcp.smtp.new and figured it all out. Clamd is indeed working and
updating (log proves that) but here's what I still get from log watch:
--------------------- clam-update Begin ------------------------
The ClamAV update process (freshclam daemon) was not running!
If you no longer wish to run freshclam, deleting the freshclam.log
file will suppress this error message.
---------------------- clam-update End -------------------------
How do I convince log watch that clamd is now up and running and
updating?
TIA,
--
Ben
