1) extract the spec file from the source rpm modify it and rebuild the source. 2) I don't think a complete reinstall is necessary as simscan is, or used to be, the last module installed per the install script. Someone else might want to confirm this.
3) I'm not sure that there is a way to automate it to your liking or not.
