You're not running dovecot, are you?
If not, using dovecot will solve your problem. I have mailboxes half
again that size, running across NFS, with no problems.
There will be an rpm for QMT of dovecot-2.0.11 available very soon,
which can be used effectively in place of Courier. We're presently
finishing up QA and documentation. You can expect to see it sometime
next week.
A problem regarding size I have run into is when a user with more than
2G of email insists on using Outlook. That's an Outlook constraint
though, and is not performance related.
