but if I dig the faxserver at the local dns server I get the correct
answer (the faxserver is only listed in the internal dns not on the
external public dns)

Am I missing something, can you put me in the right direction ?
Is there a way to let the internal faxserver send mail throught without
spamdyke check ? I tried to add the following lines in the spamdyke.conf
without success....

local-domains-entry=fax.sylcomed.com

You'll need to either configure the sending server to authenticate
(preferred), or whitelist it (simpler to configure, but less secure).
Using the later method, simply add 192.168.1.251 to the
/etc/spamdyke/whitelist_ip file.
