I think I have this solved. It worked on my COS 7 system because I had
the EPEL squirrelmail-1.4.23-1 installed w/php-5.4
I built this for COS 8 and it is in the my repo. Not sure how long it
will take to propagate across all repos
Anyway it's here, and it seemed to work with php 7.4, so, not a php
issue it seems but a SM issue. SM has been discontinued for CentOS 8 it
seems.
