For a child of a canvas layout I typically define a left and top value, so what should the layout manager aligns then? There is nothing to align as both coordinates are given. I could imagine that some alignment could be useful if you define only one coordinate of your widget (e.g. only top). I'm really interested in hearing more opinions - not just Kents and mine. ;)

A canvas layout does in no way influence the positions of the added children. I just don't get why a canvas layout should have alignment options for the children. This is, in my opinion, a wrong parameter for this type of layout. But I am open to discuss this with the other people on this list. What do you think? How should this be implemented?
