You make some good points. To be honest I did not really think about the consequences of having to implement the complete XUL standards.
I guess what I was most interested in was borrowing from XUL what we need and adding our own parts to complete the picture for qooxdoo. One main motivation for using XUL as the base was to possibly leverage existing or future development tools including visual designers and layout builders. I will have to look at XUL in a lot more detail to be able to comment on this further.
