I agree.

So now that there's an outline (which I'll continue to modify as new ideas
come in -- I have some updates to do already), which sections would you like
to tackle first?  If you write a section and post it to the list, I'll add it
to the document and keep that up-to-date.

We should probably decide on a format.  I want to create something that can be
printed or viewed online.  That means, specifically, not wiki format.  It
could be latex (but not enough people know that), html (but that's not very
easily printed unless really properly marked up), ...  Thoughts?
