Hi, The advantage of my change is the following:
If the developer has installed FireBug, he won't likely want to use anything else, because the default WindowAppender, shows an annoying popup. In addition Firebug shows in the status bar the number of errors, and is less obstrusive. On the other hand, if the same developer wants to check its page appearance under IE (where FireBug isn't available), he will see debugging output to a popup window, and have better diagnostics if IE specific-problems appear.
