we see that the edit field is focused even if it is readonly. When using the keyboard, the button at the right is just a visual remainder that we have a list of choices to select from. I vote for the text field to receive the focus. The main advantages are: - you don't have 2 tab stops for the same field - the textfield can be highlighted when it combo receives focus The text field would need also to handle the enter and esc keys for opening/closing the popup, up and down arrows, ....
