I think the best way would be to create the patch based on current svn
and create a bug for this on bugzilla.qooxdoo.org.
It ensures that the patch is not missed.
I recently created a bug regarding the visibility of the popuplist if
the combobox is made invisible:

I attached a patch to this bug which closes the popup on
"beforeDisappear" event.
Let's hope Sebastian, Andreas or someone else of the core team has some
time to review the bugs and patches.
