Yep. That was my fault grrr.

But I found a way to track width changes by implementing the 
_changeInnerWidth applyer/modifier:

    _changeInnerWidth : function(vNew, vOld) {
      this._recomputeTextFieldWidth();
    },

within the member map.

Now the width of the TextField is recomputed on parent width changes 
like resizing the browser window.
