Hi Daniel,
I did the same for blocking qooxdoo windows with such a blocking pane
over the window ui elements. One of the things which I stumbled on was
the zIndex of the pane.
One trick is maybe to create a modal, transparent qooxdoo popup which
covers the document.

thanks for the answer.
Unfortunately I still can't get it to work in IE6. And I found out now
that in Firefox the mouse clicks are still being interpreted even though
they shouldn't be anmyore because of the plane blocking the widgets.
Maybe my approach in itself is a bad solution, is there maybe a more
elegant way to change the mouse cursor and block access to the widgets
for a certain time?
