I commented out

$c.setAlwaysShowOpenCloseSymbol(false);
$c.setOpenCloseClickSelectsRow(true);

and now the behaviour is somewhat better, but still not ideal  - it does
not load the children when clicking on the (+) Symbol because I am using a
"click" event - I need to look more closely what events the virtual table
offers...
