To combine multiple UI libraries is normally not a good idea. It starts with conflicts between event and focus handling does over to style conflicts and ends with the bloat to load both.

The full build process cannot be used with ExtJs. You are able to compress files on a single file basis or through the generator. The most cool features are not easily open for third party libs because the dependency tracking etc. do not support other class declaration formats than the qooxdoo one for the moment.

We would be more than happy if you are able to start programming with qooxdoo only right know. We are currently in the phase of developing the next major version which should bring a lot of new capabilities regarding themeing. When your application needs not to be ready in 3 month (qooxdoo 0.8 is planned for early 2008), I would say to directly use qooxdoo might be the better way.

In fact this question was not asked before. It would be really nice if people on this list can put stuff they which seems useful to them to the wiki. The full qooxdoo.org is editable by the community. You can easily put some paragraphs of this email there, add some of you own content. I think this would be a great help for other new users.

This leads me to another question. Can the qooxdoo development environment be used to link and minify 3rd party Javascript libs?

I am specifically interested in the Ext library. It is nice, but qooxdoo's build process is very impressive.

If not, what is the preferred method of using third party libraries? Just by using a <script src> include?

I'm sure this has been asked many times in one way or another but I couldn't find anything in the archive.

Actually, I could do without Ext - If qooxdoo has a cross browser XML Request implementation - Perhaps someone would like to point me to an example of how xml requests are performed and processed in a typical qoox application.
