Thanks for building the demo and sharing it with us!
Do you plan to use the HtmlArea component in any real application?

For now the HtmlArea only contains the editor component and does not
bring a toolbar component with it. The main goal of the HtmlArea is to
develop a rock-solid and light-weight editor component for qooxdoo users.

However it is not difficult to connect a toolbar with the HtmlArea. All
you have to do is to call the corresponding methods of the HtmlArea in
your several event listeners of your toolbar buttons. A small example of
a "toolbar" (a bunch of buttons aligned within a HBox) is included in
the "Application.js" file in the trunk version of the HtmlArea located
in the qooxdoo-contrib repository.

Currently Jonathan and I are working at the HtmlArea and we are thinking
of implementing a "plug-in" architecture in the future to enhance the
power of the HtmlArea without mixing it up with the main editor
component. A toolbar component may be a good candidate for plug-in.

If you have any further questions feel free to ask.

cheers,
   Alex
