Hi to all the team,

Today, I spent a bit more time testing 0.8beta1. For information, I
used firefox 2.0.0.16 on Linux.

The results have been good over all, I have mostly visual issues so
far. I'm very thrilled with the Modern theme look. It really looks
much more... Modern. You are probably aware of a good proportion of
the issues listed here, but well... feel free to filter out those you
already knew about...

First, the "global" issues that can be found in many demos:

- all buttons: when you click quickly on a button (releasing the mouse
button immediately), the appearance of the "pushed button" doesn't
even change. In other toolkit, it seems there is a minimum time
(albeit brief) that the "clicked" appearance is shown.
- There is no mouseover effect on items (both modern and classic
theme) when the container is not focused (until you gain it by
clicking anywhere in the enclosing container first). I'm not sure this
is fixable but this is inconsistent with other GUI toolkits.
- Most of the time (not just the first time) buttons mouseover effect
seem to (very briefly) flicker when it appears. This rather innocent
bug gives an unpolished feel IMO and annoys me more than I dare to
admit ;-).
- As I've already reported previously, the mouseover effect on a
button can, in the modern theme, stay on a button even when the mouse
is not over the button anymore. Especially easy to reproduce on the
"animation/Tree Highlight" demo, as there are many buttons you can
hover on quickly.
- When using the Modern theme, Window borders/shadows are drawn
progressively the first time you see one (when the images are not yet
in the browser cache, I guess). This looks weird. People are kinda
used to progressive display of image content, but not of decoration. I
think it would look better if the decoration (or even the whole
window?) was only shown when all the images are fully loaded.

========
- Save Dialog: complete dialog briefly appears, then it disappear,
then it starts growing as it should... Then when it reaches maximum
size, it flickers again (briefly disappears).

- Inline Window: if you drag the window too quickly (it's very easy
with the Modern theme), it stops dragging the window. Quite annoying.
It also *seems to* happen more when part of the window is out of the
"visible area".

widget
=====
- ColorSelector:
    * there is a mistake in the french translation (I wonder how it
guessed I speak french, since my browser locale is set to en-US?!?):
annuller -> annuler
    * missing appearance in the Modern theme

- DateChooser:
    * the "status line" (initially reading "select a date") overlaps
at the bottom of the calendar, with both the Classic and Modern
themes.
    * Modern theme lacks the arrows at the top of the calendar.

- Label: the long label overlaps with the "Big Long Label"
- List: with the modern theme, the selected item in the "styled" list
is almost invisible
- Menu: the modern theme has no arrow on the split button, making it look odd.
- Resizer: doesn't work anymore (it used to work at one point in the devel).
- SelectBox:
    * there is no mouseover effect on selectbox "buttons" (in both
modern or classic themes).
    * additionally, there is not mouseover effect on selectbox choices
like there is in other GUI toolkits
- Slider: appearance is incomplete in modern theme
- TabView: unfocused tabs in vertical tab views have those ugly blue
vertical bars. Not sure what they are useful for.
- Window:
    * resize with the modern them: the resize cursor doesn't appear on
the window border but rather on the edge of the shadow, which is quite
confusing, as if one doesn't know it, he could think the window is not
resizeable.
    * in the same vein, the move "frame" is around the window and
shadow while it should be more logically the size of the window only.
    * statusbar is too grey and slightly too small (vertically) in the
Modern theme IMO.

Hope it helps,
If you need more information (screenshot, or whatever) on any of
those, just ask.
