With the two alternatives you normally have a lot of choices already. 
The rounded border is not planned to come back in the way it was 
implemented. Maybe there will be a time where we have another DOM noded 
based rounded border (like the Beveled, but with increases border 
radius). Other alternatives would maybe some type of 
Silverlight/Flash/SVG/Canvas renderer. I would say that this would be a 
good choice for the future. We will see. The results given by the old 
renderer where basically not near the quality we want to have in qooxdoo.
