Wouldn't it be useful to be able to sort the tree on each branching level:

Folder 1
    |------Folder 1-1
    |------Folder 1-2
    |        |---------File 1
    |        |---------File 2
    |        |---------File 3
    |------Folder 1-3 
Folder 2
    |------Folder 2-1

and so on? A bit more complicated to implement than just sorting a (table)
column, of course.

Apart from that I agree with your assessment.
