Hey, sorry for the late answer. As you might have read already, I have been to Sweden last week so I could not answer right away. I took the time to check your code and even it seemed like a bug in the first place, it isn't. The problem is in the bindItem function you supply. The first thing you do is binding the default properties:
controller.bindDefaultProperties(item, id); which include label and icon. This is find as long as you don't include the second line which binds again the label. That way, you have two bindings on the same property which is sure not the thing you had in mind. Removing the first line and reconfiguring the icon binding should do the job. That way you don't need to set the model again after the remove, too.
