We are still developing and adding feature to qooxdoo so not even a 2.0 version will be "the end" of new features. So no need to worry.

We have already a bug for that feature [1], which could be easily found in the bugzilla. Currently, there is no schedule when we will include that feature but as long as its in bugzilla, be sure someone will take care of it. If you want to get mails if something is changing, add yourself as CC to that bug to get all changes as mails.
