I've been using qx.data.store.Json to retrieve objects from my server
with much success and delight.

However, if the user wishes to abort a request, how would they do it?

I get the feeling that the setState('aborted') is not what I am looking for.
Exactly, thats only reflecting the state so just for information, not for 
manipulating.


I don't see how I can access the underlying qx.io.remote.Request
object to cause the abort to occur properly.
Thats exactly the way you would go. The store offers a delegate [1] to do 
advanced stuff with it. That delegate includes a method named 
"configureRequest" which is exactly what you need. It gives you the chance to 
get your additional handling to the request before it is send.
