I can see the issue too, your code works in 1.4.x but not in 1.5.
It's a bit easier to reproduce with this line:
qx.data.marshal.Json.createModel({"$$0" : "test"});
This may have to do with the following bug (which was fixed in 1.4.2 and
1.5):

Sounds like it could be a regression caused by that fix. I took the
liberty of reopening the bug report.
