Indeed, yes. Some qx.ui.form.TextField() and qx.ui.form.TextArea().
End-users being what they are, they might try to type into labels or
buttons, but they won't get very far ;)

I tried that. It seemed to delete the box3_1[English] and
box3_2[English] containers (not what I want) and also delete all of
the child widgets inside them (also not what I want).

Yep. Simply unlink the boxes from the grid. Nothing more. Don't delete
them. Don't touch their contents. Just unlink cleanly so they can be
added to a grid again later, as if it were their first time.

The final goal?
A listbox with up to 143 values, with selection bindings to let the
user choose which of up to 143 sets of box3_1[] and box3_2[]
containers to display.
A notebook would do a similar thing to what I'm after here, but a
notebook with 143 tabs is pretty horrific to almost any end-user where
a listbox selector isn't.
If it helps, the web app is more or less a conversion of a desktop app
I wrote. This is a screen grab from that, of what I'm trying to do
